James Swan on Leonard Peltier 4/15/12

....
I think Leonard Peltier is the true leader and exemplifies what Native American resistance means. I was not there when the those feds were killed, so I don't know and I will not speculate its outcome. I do know from history and the way the U.S. and its Government has manipulated and twisted every issue in Indian county, our treaties, our rights even issues in regards to our Tribal laws and Sovereignty, just to fit their needs ....The U.S. Governments ability to divide and conquer is notorious. I think the main person behind Anna Mae's death is kamook Eccoffey (vindictive woman scorn) I do not believe Leonard Peltier was the shooter..I do not know who the shooter was that Killed those F.B.I. guys, or want to speculate. The Government has made up its mind they want blood just like at Wounded Knee in 1890, when they killed woman and children in the name of vengeance.(over Custers defeat). Even awarding the Metal of Honor to murders and rapers of our brothers and sisters. And to this day the government still stands proud of there evil accomplishment. "Free Leonard Peltier" has out lived even the cries and passions of the American Indian Movement" (A.I.M.) who's accomplishments are little in comparison, with the cry for Leonard's Freedom as well as little support other then the occasional A.I.M. flag seen in photos, Parades & Rally's...What does that mean, today, for native resistance? ..The cry for Leonard is the only common issue that brings all Native Activist together in "Unity & Solidarity" again Leonard Peltier amplifies true Native resistance and he is a living Martyr and Icon to the Native American people and will forever remain to be, that Martyr and Icon, even after he crosses over and then he will become larger then life to the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island...Mitakuye Oyasin James "Magaska" Swan

Its just too bad there is so much division within the American Indian Movement...Its hardly a shell of what it used to be....Somehow it must find a way to Unify and work with other Native Activist....There will be a time real soon when we w...ill need each other...Divide and conquer is working in the White mans favor....The A.I.M. song is supposed to promote "Unity & Solidarity" it has created to many Chiefs and not enough Indians....We need Change....Sad thing is...There are two divisions of A.I.M. neither one really recognizes the other. Then there is smaller independent groups none will work together because of leadership issues..(this is why its divided) Look at the friends...they (WE) all share the same friends and other misc. support groups and organizations etc. On line everyone has there own groups and pages, that all promote and deal with the same issues...and that's great!. We need all the support we can get (as a Whole).....How confusing is that"? there is no point in not working together!...If everyone went by what Leonard Peltier is saying ...We wouldn't have this problem. Each different organizations and activist groups can bring new ideals and different perspectives to the circle. We have got to get pass this division and find Unity...Maybe we all can put together some sort of "Round Table" "Council" or whatever with Representatives of all Native Activist groups so that there is some sort of communication and for the purpose of "Unity and Solidarity?"..The only ones this is hurting (with this division) are the people we are suppose to stand for and protect...
